Looks like I missed out, next year!
I spent the day doing pre-dolomite checks and found that my front brake pads were very very low, so would have failed on track.

"Apparently Bristol Kit Car Club won an award for 'club stand of the show' so next year SKCC needs to step up it's game. Your attendance will be required."
they would do, as its a home event, I did 270 miles, and the kent boys more like 300, so as a club, think we had a good turnout, and if was done by club mileage on the day, we would of wiped their butts

I understand where you are coming from Steve, logistically it's easier for them, though it wouldn't, be impossible for us. Briskoda have won the award in the past at the performance shows, and performance and skoda don,t go hand to hand in some tuners views. It also takes a bit of collective effort if we want to go for it. You won't win just by turning up.
We could do it though we'd need a theme, why not present what skcc do well, skcc tours and film clips.
A couple of cars and drivers packed up ready for the off on static display outside the cinema gazebo showing a few of the great films put together by Nash, Linda Steve etc showing on a loop, maybe some display boards with some choice images.
Proper job..

i can't see what they actually did to win it apart from turn up in numbers so i think we could steal the crown quite easily.

It might help if you do not muller the circuit's property and post it on the Internet!

Well i did offer to také that type of gear we used at Detling a few years ago on a previous page ( maybe i should shouted again ),
Now we have seen the set up there, even if it was not for a prize i think it is worth banging the SKCC drum and if others could do the friday night as well make a proper event out of it.
The sort legends are made of although no fires are allowed Linda
Rich.

locost220 wrote:Well hopefully the rest of the gang are still enjoying the show but i took an early bath. After a restless night i was up with the lark and once i was feed and watered and had a read of the regs and proceedures took what i needed from the tow car and left it and the trailer and walked a 5 mins over to our pitch. Car uncovered and started on the button and all warmed up by 7.30 off to sign in the past noise test and then after greeting Russ off to drivers driefing and fitment of wrist band.
Lined up with him, phil and a couple of others for the 9.30 kit car only 15 mins, car died after 7/8 of a lap and will not start, watch the rest of that time slot from the grass got towed off circuit and still wont start probably new dist shagged. Loaded on trailer as my seccond trackday timeslot went out. Saw the rest of the gang and bagged a passenger ride in Pauls fantastic
Ultma, wow that got some tug on it and sticks really well.
The gang were getting like boys in a brothel, bagging additional rides as i left.
I had no real time to check out much of the show but a few of the car kits and classics i did see looked nice and there were a few of the usual kit car parts providers on show. Started to spit as i. Left so hope it did not spoil the session the guys were lining up for.
Had to get going a 12.45 to get home to keep SHMBO. But put me down for next year if it on for a few sessions in a fit car.
Will post some phone pics later.

Re: Classic, Kit and Retro Action Day - Castle Combe - 20th
Great day! Very good to see everyone.
Superb breaky... heaps of food with a tea/coffee & toast and change from a fiver. Well done for finding that one David. Crunchie's new toy looks awesome. I had a quick sit in it... fits perfect
After breakfast I went straight to the circuit as I was keen to get signed on, noise tested and briefed.
At the breakfast stop I got the laptop out and decided to add a smidgen more turbo boost, just 0.5 psi
It's too easy to do - just change a number in the tuning program. So now it's running exactly 0.8 bar or 11.5 psi. I let it make auto-tune revisions to the fuel map on the way there (and all the way back home too) and it's actually leaned the fueling map off slightly at the top end.
Noise tested at 97dB then on to my first track session at 10:30, accompanied by Phil and Russ. My first time at Combe. Pretty slippery on the corners but no brown trouser moments. Plenty of tyre squeal from my A539's though. My Second track session was at 12:30 with Phil, Russ, David and Neil. Good to see SKCC crew getting stuck in.
Really enjoyed the track sessions. Not sure that Combe is the most interesting circuit but it was good value for money for £20 for the pre-booked sessions. I'd definitely do it again - more sessions in fact. Can get some big speed up down the straight from Start/Finish line down to Quarry. I was pushing 6k+ rpm in 5th which is 130+ mph. Late braking from that speed over the brow of the hill on the approach to Quarry corner is pretty interesting.
I didn't get overtaken once in either session - lapped a few cars too.
The track/circuit element makes a huge difference to me - having a chance to get involved and do some driving at these events - or even if you don't go on track, just watching everyone else is good fun. Static shows are pretty boring IMO.
Trade stands a bit disappointing but I still walked away with a hand-file set, telescopic magnet pole and a hole cutter set.
