Never had a problem in 20,000 miles, expect when I bottomed out. The suspesion was too low and soft as the car had only been on the road a week or two. The bell housing chewed out a piece of tarmac and there are still big gouges in the steel work of the lowest rear chassis member. So it did take a real bang to set it off, but it did its job.

@Davemg, good old school solution to it. Surprised to see someone solving a simple problem like this without resorting to a PIC chip these days :D

Had an inertia switch in the Marcos we used to have and that never played up either. Hopefully problems with it wont be common, but at least you'll know about it now.

I've never had a problem with mine - but that's the problem. If it were to trip I'd never think to look at it, so lamp to draw my attention would be a good thing.

Thanks Chris! A PIC was tempting but too complex with regulators, etc., and just unnecessary. Mind you, my hysteresis level is too high and is making it hard to adjust reliably as the cars voltage varies.

Heyho, everything is a prototype... maybe that should be my signature on this forum :)
