Master Cylinder Sizes

Postby b33fy » Thu Apr 21, 2016 6:52 pm

Brake master cylinder query.. As mentioned in my project thread the pedal box is a bit of a lash up so I removed it and am doing some mods to make sure it works as it should. It currently has a .7 master cylinder for the rear Sierra calipers is this about what most peeps are running? The clutch cylinder is a .7 also which felt good other than the pedal at the wrong angle. For the six pots I was going to keep the same as the rears and go from there. It would be helpful to get an idea what set up others are using. I know I should do the maths but I really can't be arsed and with a choice of 4 sizes of master cylinders it can't be that difficult can it..?

Rear is normally larger than the front.

Without knowing the size of the front pistons in the six pots think i would go with the 3/4 rears and 5/8 front

Thanks, Dick, Mark, Jeff. The pedal box is out and I've had a close look at it. Needs a bit of modding with the grinder as the balance bar doesn't clear the frame. The balance bar clevis's are of a poor design and the lock nuts fitted don't allow them to pivot as they lock them solid. Studs need to be welded on for the master cylinders. Other than that it's perfect. Do the mods this evening and hopefully get it back in the car tomorrow.

Thanks for the offer Dick, I've also got some at home, so between us we can came up with the right sizes.
