Mini blat

Postby leegav » Fri Apr 22, 2016 4:10 pm

Got in from Edinburgh pretty early today and a nice flight back so thought I'd risk the rain and take the car for a spin... Some of you may think that's mad as it is chucking it down in Somerset... But the car or me hasn't been out in the rain for ages so I wanted to get it out and do a bit of a tester.
I checked my oil level before leaving and it was mighty low so topped up and off I went. About 6 miles in I thought I could smell burning... Got out and checked under the bonnet and I'd forgot to put my oil cap back on so there was a fair bit of oil splattered around my engine bay...

I need some waterproof gloves and a to fix the Toneau covers as a couple of the snap toggles have dissapeared so it won't lock down properly and rain gets my passenger side soaking.. I also need a near side mud guard on the front wheel, when I turn right I get a full on wheel spray direct to the helmet.. Ha ha  I also definately have a fuel leak from the rear as I can see slight marbling on the floor when I stopped.. I also need to move the 12 v adopters as they are getting soaked in the current position...

So moral of the post is get out in the rain before the road trips and see what needs adjusting or changing... It will keep you from getting drenched / peed off / or electrical issues from water ingress.. Something as simple as the satnav stopping working due to the 12v getting wet could ruin your trip...
Here's some wet pictures to prove the 50 mile journey to my parents happened...

Should try two o-rings on the oil filter that empties the sump in seconds

Remembered the crowds that day, you strapping your exhaust back on and Mark next door fitting a new clutch cable I seem to remember.
