I thought it was generally better than last weeks premier.
Thought the McLaren F1 bit was good (although I'd have rather seen/heard from Chris Harris driving the car). BTW - if you watch Top Gear Extra you'll see that Chris Evans got really emotional in the F1 - started crying - it was a really big deal for him.
South Africa section was beautiful, parts of it were good (race up to the pub for instance), but much still a bit naff - the whole 'don't spill the cocktail' section was stupid - I guess I want a more serious car programme rather than 'entertainment' that has to appeal to a wider audience.
I like Matt LeBlanc though - better than Chris Evans IMO.
The sofa interview sections were painful. All this 'first car' / 'favourite car' competition bollocks. It's just boring. The actual celebrity drive is entertaining, but cut the crappy chat-show aspect.

Re: Top Gear, what a load of...thread.
thank the lord, i thought it was just me!
i like LeBlanc and the general persona/way he comes across,Evans is well Evans generally a shouty guy who irritates the heck out of me, but seemed to be less shouty in this last episode. the Africa bit was just the same as the old style - ie/ bits of naffness interspersed with fantastic scenery....
stars on the sofa has always been a pet hate - rare that in the old series that they'd get someone worth listening to and if they did Clarkson didnt always let them speak. So adding more bodies onto teh sofa just makes it even worse....
what is this 'Extra' that you talk of, when is it actually on, cos it doenst follow on form the main program does it?

It's on BBC3 which is only available via iPlayer now. TBH the presenter Rory Reid annoys me, and it's generally a bit pants, but it might be worth a quick skip through in future. Chris Harris could do some good features if they let him.

Top Gear Extra is online, you can find it on iPlayer. Chris Harris is on it and in the first episode had the Nomad flying around the circuit

I enjoyed episode 2
Helmet on......
It was much better, but there was a lot less of Evans. The chat before the rallycross bit was still painful.
I always struggled with the SIARPC segment on the old show. Always a bit naff. Enjoyed the 4x4 is SA though!
It pains me to say it, clarkson was more at ease with the guests and got the best out of them including a genuine laugh at times. Putting comedians on just to get a laugh out the audience, because the presenter can't, is a bit of a cheap shot IMO.

The programme will never be on my TV, just as childish, etc as the previous few years of TG

I quite like Matt Le Blanc, he's a lot better than I thought. Agree about Clarkson being better interviewer though. The 'star in a car' feature is now a bit cringey. CE just isn't in control of the show, he has no 'authority'. So, the I Player show might be worth a look. But, guess what. BBC can't be bothered to put it in TV - why should I be bothered to go and track it down. Missed opportunity. I watched it Las week because it would be unfair to judge it just on the first one. Won't be upset to miss it this weekend.

This week's show was better but that said it would be much better without CE
