Re: Electronic Ignition
Food for thought while you are pondering options....used to have a Xflow in the Westy. Usual recipie of BVH, lumpy cam, 40s with an Aldon dizzy that had been re-curved on the RR as well. Happened to have a spare Emerald ECU after selling a car so decided to fit it to the Xflow. I put a map from a same spec engine in it and it transformed the way the car drove. Probably didn't make much more power but it started easily, idled well and filled the huge hole that used to be there before it came on cam. Made better mpg as well. Can't overstate the benefits of 3D mapped ignition. Later on fitted some converted bike TBs and went EFI as well but that didn't make anywhere near as big a difference.

Re: Electronic Ignition
Rather embarrassingly I found one contributory factor... a knackered rotor arm! Replaced that and the cap and it starts far better, runs better, etc.
However I still have a "stutter" so I'm going to check the bob weights to make sure they are advancing properly.
Mapped ignition has to be the way to go, although it's a good £300+ to do. It might still happen, if when I get out to the car this weekend I find the dizzy has had it, there is no point replacing it when I can put the money towards doing the right thing...
