This is my old oil catch tank.and it gave me no trouble it had 2 filers on the top

The new one has got 1 filter on the top. but all around it. is a fine layer of oil it is not catching any oil at all but on the old one it would catch about 20cc after about 500 miles

The catch tank in the seconded pic are not much better than scrap as the inlet is very high up and if you fit a filter its next to the inlet from the breather. Your old one had size on its side. The best ones are like the mocal ones with the vents on top and the breather pipes lower down. These work well but can be made to work even better with a cheap modification.

My catch tank is a metal drink holder made for a push bike, although I do not seem to get much oil in there, as I run a xflow (most of the oil is on the outside of the engine, gearbox chassis :) )
it does seem to collect a very small amount of oily vapour / mayo, type of brown sludge

cost £1 from the poundshop
