Type 9 gearbox rebuild

My gearbox is coming out on Monday for noisy bearings and I might need someone to rebuild it

It's someone my cousin knows, he used to build gearboxes for the stock cars for years. He's in reading not far from the madjeski stadium. I'll see if I can get his contact details.

That'll be good, getting the car on the road, you could do a few runs now.

We'll be out tonight. I didn't manage to get a run in last night so I'll have to take it easy, at least to start with You've got my mobile number, just give me a call when you're heading out.

Well the first run didn't go too well, the speedo wasn't working and the clutch cable popped out of the clutch release arm about a mile away from home. Luckily I was able to get home in 4th without stopping! I don't think that I'd engaged the cable correctly in the arm the first time but I still used a strategically placed tie-wrap to prevent it popping out in future. As for the speedo cable, my help mate hadn't located the end of the cable in the drive gear correctly so that was an easy fix. So far the gear changes are all working fine and the nasty noises have gone so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will stay that way so I can get out and about
