Gear linkage problems

Postby Rob E » Wed Dec 07, 2016 3:12 pm

I have a vw crafter on a 2007 plate, I lost 1st,3rd and 5th yesterday, I've had a look underneath and apart from it looking quite complicated nothing out the ordinary, there's two cables that travel from the stick to the linkage, I've oiled up all moving parts, cables seem fine but can't be sure as there in sleeves, when you try to engage 1st it does move the linkage but not enough making me think the cables have stretched ??
Anyone got any knowledge on these vans/linkage??

that just happened on my daughters Punto, I replaced the cables and only when I got the old one out did I see it was completely snapped in the sheathing. when it was still in there the break was obviously just pushing on itself enough to make it look as though something was still moving
