i love my straight cut box. wont change it ever... apart from a new one!
the noise is fine with earplugs. min isnt a dog engagement though...its syncro
i like my car to be racy and the gearbox helps with that feeling when driving it.. :D

come on you cant deny it sounds awsome when i hoon past... :lol:

So straight cut and syncho....noisy and slow to change :lol: Straight cut / Dog engagement I get but straight cut /synchro is a bit odd Lee.

its the quaife straight cut type 9 Tiger supply. That gearbox has been in the car for yonks so i suspect it was something to do with the tiger series rules maybe jeff.. ?
maybe im wrong and it is dog engagement...?

Not likely to be Synchro mate, if you ever get it back see if you can without using the clutch. Does it change better the faster you do it?

Hi Lee. I know Hewland dog boxes. Great fun but even good drivers struggle with a H configuration as one needs to be brutal. The type 9 Quaif is a nice box but not a dog box. You cannot do flat changes as it has synco. I can understand why you like it. For me it is like Castrol R; it smells like an old time race car! :D :D

These days a race car is flappy paddles mated to a dog box with pneumatic cinquential. I think that is what Jeff has? I am not sure it has the same driving experience but far faster IMO.

There is place for all types IMO. It just depends on what you want from your car.

i do love it... i wont change it, although i am looking at getting refreshed sometime soon... if i ever get my car back :lol:
