Has anyone come up with a smart way of avoiding the glare from headlights at night time. Being so low down means you get their lights straight in your eyes with effectively no "dip" on them?
Obviously you can look away but that's not always possible if it's a tricky road or one you don't know.
Way back they used to sell "night driving glasses" with yellow lenses - I have goggles for driving with alternative lens / screen, one clear, one dark & one yellow. I use the yellow one if I'm driving the Fury at night & found it does make a difference - especial with the bright white lights cars have now. Not a huge difference granted & I do look like I'm trying to be a Bono tribute act, but it's dark, no-one can see.
If you can find something with a yellow lens it might be worth a try - or buy a box of quality street & glue the toffee penny wrappers over your glasses (take the foil bit out first though).
I just look at the kerb as far ahead as my lights reach on dipped. As you say, not ideal and if I don't know the road or it's raining it isn't much fun.
It's well worth having a dipping rear view mirror, particularly in traffic as any SUV lights will be direct in your mirror!
i've done a fair amount of driving at night, often during the summer back from run outs or early morning to get to a run - and i am struggling to remember whether i;'ve ever had an issue with this. Prob no more so than being in a tin top with some badly adjusted lights coming the other way.....maybe my seating position is differnet to yours...
I'm with Mark on this. I drive a lot at night and I wear my clear lenses in the TAC-3's and I do sometimes wear the yellow lenses. I don't really suffer with glare.
