Toyo Proxes R1R vs T1R

Postby Weathers » Mon Feb 20, 2017 4:10 pm

Anyone have any actual experience with driving with both types? And which is better? Minimal price difference. T seems to have better wet weather performance than R per the suppliers stats.

Thoughts?

On the kits the R1R's are much better. The T1R's are too hard for light weight cars and you simply can't get enough heat into them to make them work.

I agree with that the T1R's are better in the wet, I used these on a UK trip a couple of years ago and had great confidence in them and it was very wet.... but how often do we use our cars in torrential rain?

Mine currently has T's but will be changing them to R's soon... if only I didn't sell my spare set

I've used both on the Viento. R1R is more grippy, how about some R888R's. Thats what I'm using next.

Used both on the Quantum turbo. T1rs struggled with the torque and were really poor in in damp wet conditions with major wheel spin on boost. Had R1rs on for 2000 mile trip to France and back which included some heavy UK rain and standing water and they coped well. Excellent on warm and dry rural French roads, so R1rs for me. If you have the extra money R888 are the way to go.

tr1's are a good budget tyre, at about £40 a pop you get what you pay for, imho at around £60 a corner r1r's are a different league - the only tyre that i'd consider as opposed to the r1r would be a 888....

Having used both sets (tin tops) I recommend the R1R over the T1R

Checked my car and I've got T1R on mine, I thought they were ok when I first bought the car but struggling with grip now. bringing up the rear on the Sunday run outs so might be the time to change them.
