So as my winter repairs and upgrades seem to be stretching into spring due to various ailments and unexpected car issues, I thought I would use todays cancelled run as an opportunity to change my rear lights to the LED ones I got at recent Race Retro show.
The BMC type were still the original ones when it hit the road, they need to be surface mounted due to the close ness of the arch to the tyres, meaning they had festoon bulbs, suffered from overheaded contacts making them unreliable and i have also lost a couple of the lenses in the past.
The new ones being all but the same size as originals making alignment easy.
The new ones are Landrover Defender ones apparently, should have shopped around to get them cheaper.
Richard.

Great job Mr G. It seems a lot of people have gone LED over the winter, me included. It is the future.
Well done. Are you nearly finished the winter work?

Cheers all
Neil. I had planned to get the rear shocks refurbished like I have the front ones but to get them off is a major job meaning you have to take the seats, interior side panels and arches off to get the bolts out. I blame the original builder of the car. But really want to get some miles on the engine and box ahead of this years european jaunt. So they might have to wait.
Couple of other niggles to sort as well.
Rich.

I had the same problem Richard on my 7, and yesterday had to take the seats out, wheel arch off, all the crap in the boot out, because some numpty when building my chassis, made the top bolt very inaccessible !!

I think the original builder of your chassis was reading the same pages, that my builder was reading

Thats was probably spelt wrong, or had some grammer, that the "grammer police have to have a moan at

Re: LED Rear lights
You could well be right Steve. Thought I might be able to sneak a cap headed bolt out between the top of the arch and the top of the side panel behind it but nit enough room. Why I never had it 90 degree I never know, must have assumed the book was 100 percent correct !
I could probably have struggled to get them out whilst the car was up in the air for the front mods but as meant to be having half shafts out as well and was round wrong way for that i thought I could get it done after engine and gearbox swap and not have all the bits all over the place at once.
Rich.
