I checked disc run out with Steve's dial gauge, approx 4 thou", which is within tolerance. Trying to lever the hub against the stub axle revealed similar tiny amount of movement on the gauge.....but putting a puller on the hub with the stub axle nut still tight and in place and twisting the centre spindle of the hub puller with hand pressure alone gave 40+ thou", that's over 1mm for those in metric

A tap back with a rubber mallet and the hub returned to its original position and the dial gauge returned back to zero. This can't be good, and depressing the brake pedal afterwards replicated the long pedal travel I’ve been experiencing when driving!! So the First Line bearings I fitted aren’t much good then
I've now got some decent 'face adjusted' bearings to fit, supposedly not requiring shims.
