Getting a flanged tube thingy made

Postby russtik » Fri May 05, 2017 3:09 pm

So I want some "spacers" to be made to extend the gap between my Jenvey throttle bodies and the air filter backplate. I.e. increasing the induction length and moving the filter away from the bodies.

Here's the type of thing I'm after - I've been quoted £150 for a set of 4 so far, does anyone know of someone who might be able to beat that?

That's where the £150 quote came from.

That is going to make a very big change to how the car runs and drives.

so spill then Russ, what's the overall length that you're aiming for from valve to open end of the trumpets?.....and as am always keen to learn what that length - whatever 'that' is?

Well I can't tell you from the valve back but from the throttle body face back I'm aiming for 160mm at present. That's not set in stone, just my working number currently. Long trumpets seem the favourable method for relatively low displacement (potentially) high revving engines like the 4AGE. The plan is to try and manipulate the torque curve to give more low down the RPM range.

I've been having a butchers at this:

I have 19mm stacks and a Pipercross backplate which I'm guessing is 1-2mm think.

I suspect he'll want them made out of unoptanioum but would settle for mahogany (like his tyres)

Sorry, I'm not well ;)

Isn't it cheaper to get a set of longer trumpets?
