seat pads

Postby kenton » Sat May 06, 2017 7:48 pm

Anyone used these? on something better.

My bad back needs a little help, just duck taped a couple of cushions onto the fiberglass seat to see if I can drive tomorrow. I think it helps so am looking for a permanent solution with the road trip only a couple of weeks away.

kenton, not a nice looking long term solution, but i'd be tempted to cut up a camping mat, they're cheap as chips and as quick fix whilst your back is particularly susceptible you could double up wherever needed. obviously the material that they're made of is spec'd so that someone can sensibly get a nights kip on top of one of those on hard ground - so there should be the right amount of 'give'.
just a thought......

thing with seats & pads is that what is ok for one may not work so well for others, i sat in a JK seat which had pads, admittedly i didnt drive the car - but i really didnt like the feeling.

K, short term fix, camping mat double sided tape as Mark said. Unlike Mark though, I'm a fan of the JK option and need to order pads for my seats, no real rush at the moment. If you make templates of the shape you need, they will make them to fit. Nicely finished and loads of colours as well. A nice bright orange would look good in yours.

Thanks chaps, hopefully the cushions will prove the concept tomorrow, Felicity has a yoga mat that looks about the right depth of springyness, best not cut it up though. Camping mat around 10 to 15 mm thick would work. I'll have a look at Argos etc. Colour coded to the car, Mike you do like a bit of bling, thats an idea, or plain old black.
