1978 - £150 for a rust free '58 Anglia. Equivalent now £601, so interestingly, I could buy the Zafira I already own

If I could buy a rust free 100e for £601 now I certainly would - spanners out, Escort suspension, Zetec, lowered 3" at the front, 2" at the back, black with a red interior. Mmmmmmm

I bought a 1 owner, Owned by a Mr stanley Ford, 1959 100e prefect, 3 speed, 1172cc side valve for £300.00 back when I was 17 (1990). The intention was to hotrod it.So I Bought a tuned Mk11 Escort 1760 Burton pinto with twin 40s for it. but ended up running around in the mk11 until i blow the engine racing a golf gti.The car followed me around for a while During house moves right up to the house I'm in now, still with the intention to put a modern engine in it . But just didn't have the money, time or ( Matt H to hand). So I sold it about 5 years ago.
Still got The Reg NUD222.But still wished I had the room to of kept it and rebuilt it One Day !!

I'd started hotrodding mine with a Mk1 Cortina rear axle when I drove it up a tree - as you do when you're 18. The black one I bought to replace it wasn't in nearly as good condition, but got all mod cons, including Corsair front suspension, a 1500 pre-crossflow & fourspeed, seat belts, frenched tail lights, electric wipers. I loved that car, but it failed an MoT & I made the mistake of buying a car to use while fixing it .......
