It was a shame that when we got to Rykas it was too early for food as the guy that had opened up was on his own so couldn’t cook and serve in the counter. So we just had coffee’s and then set off to the show. One closed road three some of us of route meaning we didn’t meet up with Tony H on the route, but when we got to the show he turned up with Colin and Tony T a few minutes behind us.
I think we all enjoyed the show with lots to see and some of us even got to join in the parade along the front of the spectators with a bit of wheel spinning and everyone having a little drift when we spun round at the other end :D . The day actually went quite quick for a show which we all know can get boring after you’ve had a wander round for a while. It’s one I would do again although i think I heard that it’s the last one as they are developing the site into houses

Firstly, thank you to Matt for organising a really great day out, shame about breakfast but hay ho.
A nice route was done by Tony H country lanes and some nice a roads. The closed road Tony T and me ventured down and you could get through as we squeezed our small cars through a small gap and off we went .
Very well organised event I thought, loads going on on the track and in the sky.
After a wonder round I found there wasn't much more to see or do, so Tony T and me shot of at about 2.30 , apologises to the people i didn't see to say my good buys, but you had to be escorted out of the event so we just had to go.
I would go again, so that's a shame to find out that this could be the last one ?

Anyway great day, very nice company and the weather stay nice most of the day, a few small showers on the way home but nothing to damped the memories.

Till next time

Thanks once again for this and the pass ride today. Great show some lovely metal present.
Not sure my stomach could handle some of the twists and spins the planes were doing.
Caught a few ZZZs during the day due to a silly early start on family duties
Be a shame if it is the last one.

Rich.

To be honest, they've said it's the last one a number of times, in the last year the planning permission has moved a step closer, but Dunsfold closed as a BAe site in 2000, the locals are very much against the development, so 18 years & counting, there may be a few more yet.

Also, the "heavy metal" was noticeably absent, maybe because it wasn't the same weekend as Biggin Hill (in the past they've shared aircraft), maybe they were trying to keep the noise down? The only jets were the Vampires & the MiG - both powered by centrifugal engines, so much quieter than the more modern axial jets - just my theory though.
