Bonneville - in the UK?

How many of us have thought of going to Bonneville for speed week, but realised it's never going to happen? If only there was something like it in the UK - PAH! - that'll never happen in the age of health & safety!

Well it does happen - & sort of on salt too - ish.

Do a google image search on "Pendine Sands hot rod" & feast your eyes. The Vintage Hot Rod Association (VHRA) runs the event & it's basically flathead V8 hot rods drag racing on the beach. The fastest cars reach 100mph - on wet sand.

It's the 15th & 16th of June, paddock tickets are all sold, but it's free to stand & watch, £4 to park on the beach. I think this is the 8th year, so people are starting to build cars for this event - streamliners & the like, in a few years it'll be all professional with big budgets, but right now it's still very much amateur & for the fun of it.

I want to go, anyone else interested?

The date moves about a lot as the tides have to be right so the beach is big enough.
