Feel for you Chris re: the clutch. Unlucky mate.
Tony and Kenton... sounds like you're getting stuck in to the good roads now
Enjoy, and keep the updates coming please.

What a day, breathtaking scenery and loads of passes and Cols that we’ve never done before, quite road and a tad warm - oh yes, and Kenton’s breakdown....

Serious question guys.
My car got a tad hot. Its blown the end out of the temp sender , its watertight but the sender has gone. Would running the ignition more retarded keep the engine cooler?
Thanks in advance

If it does it would only be marginal as you wouldn’t be able to back it off too far as it would cause running problems. Running richer may help but not huge amounts but again may cause other issues.
Staying off the loud pedal and overriding the radiator fan may be an option, though all a bit risky if you can’t monitor it. Have you got an oil temp sender fitted and can you swap them?
I probably have a sensor knocking about I could send though unlikely to get to you before Tuesday if that helps?

Thanks Mike
I can't seem to resist pushing the push to pass , especially when coming out of a hairpin.
No other temp senders unfortunately that I could swap out.
Just have to trust it will be ok. Gauge was showing 105 when pushing it up st bernard pass.

Could you get another sender? Or is there another sender for the ecu, could plug something into that to monitor what the ecu is seeing. Also is the ecu set up to cut fuelling etc when the engine gets too hot?
Yes I've been drinking, what of it!!
