So here's one. I'm a rather large gent (read: a fat ****), and whilst my 2B has plenty of room, my seat doesn't and the steering wheel is too low.
I noticed that the end of the steering column is attached to the car by means of a plate with 2no U clamps, clamped around the chassis tubing.
Can these plates be bought separately from somewhere, or is it maybe time to make another one?
Also, has anyone gone from a "bucket" seat to a "car" seat? I've got an old part leather MG ZS seat lying around that is very comfy that I would like to use, is it simply just a case of bolting it in??

Re: Steering column and seat change
Problem with car seats is they get a bit squishy when it gets wet. Other option is to get the widest grp seat possible for the gap and cut the sides down. JK composites have a number of width options. You can add some of their padding for a bit of comfort as well.
Power.. small nail, fast hammer, Torque.. small nail, big hammer.. I got a big hammer

Re: Steering column and seat change
I used my mates 2B for a week this year and steering wheel too low as well. Felt like there was a bit of gap between the top of the column and a chassis member that could be exploited but did not investigate further. Can you post a pic of the bit you referring too.

As Mike said in the seat, dont use a std. seat if you intend to take the car out in the rain. The water gets through the material and eventually rots the frame.
Lots of lardar$e seat options available. (Ask Mike and I how we know!).

I'm not sure lardar$e is going to be big enough

The best bet for trying seats is to attend a meet up somewhere and ask if you can sit in the cars that look hopeful. Another way of gaining room and sitting lower is a foam bag seat moulded fo you. Chris L on here made one.

42" waist, 5'11" but with long legs. And baby carrying hips.
Nearly square?

That's not big!!!
Right, how big is your budget?
JK Composites do a 42 (their biggest seat) Mike mentioned them and a few have them from here. £500 'ish a pair.
Cobra do a soft sideless seat but it will rot eventually at mentioned previously.
Tillett do a B6FXL only FIA approved Seat for drivers above 100kg. Eye wateringly expensive at circa £650 a seat or more if you want carbon! You will need to specify a caterham cut on the sides or they won't fit the chassis.
Any of those seats will work for you. To be sure get yourself on a drive out and all the seats and a lot more should be around to try out.
Hope that helps?

I'd recommend Intatrim - they do a huge range and you can customise them in about 1000 ways. Mine cost me £500... and I'm fairly lardy as well.
