Hi from Enfield soon to be Rochester

Postby raplma » Tue May 17, 2011 4:58 pm

Hi

I'm Mark, currently living in North London but soon to move to Rochester.

My brother and I have been restoring older kit cars for some while, we have a pair of Sylva Star's at the moment, probably something to do with our sibling rivalry . . . ;) His is red and currently undergoing a complete rebuild, brief details of the history of mine are below. Have to say that after seeing a few pass through our mitts I'm half tempted to keep this one for now.

As ever the to-do list is getting longer, current items being: replacing the seats and harnesses for one's that match and have less holes, will need a new set of wheels before long, once I've decided which design I'll go for, but ultimately it will need a chassis up rebuild and a re-wire in the not too distant future, but I'm under strict orders from my brother that his gets back on the road first.

Planning to be a Delting on Saturday, the car will be on the JPSC club area (assuming they're there) so may catch up with some of you at the show or on a hoon at some stage when I'm in north Kent.

Cheers

Thank goodness you went for Revision 2.... previously you must have had to drive around with a dark visor on to a) prevent you from seeing your own colour scheme b) stop others identifying you as the owner!!!  Much better now, and nice to see something different. Welcome on board Mark.

Thankfully it wasn't that colour when I had it, and in fact the pic dulls it down it was truly dazzling!

Welcome,
i seen you car in a couple of mags, I always thought that such a rounded bulge on such a square car REALLY shouldn't work, but somehow - it just REALLY does.

Hi T

Yup totally agree, and for that reason the car has a kind of charm  . From certain angles it is just wrong and looks like the proverbial duckling, but from others it really works. It is it's uniqueness that makes me want to keep it. The Star never was the most aesthetically pleasing design which is probably why the Sylva Leader came out a year later. The bulge was there when I bought the car too, although I had to re bond it on as it began to come off and flap around on a trip down the A12 :o
