Hi Guys,

I probably wont be attending any run outs any time soon as I have fallen off the road at the weekend. I now have to source and old style toprocker for the fury(chevette type) and a few other bits and bobs and a cracked bonnet.

Hey Ho

On my way to Goodwood sprint the other Saturday I met the scenery. The extent of the damage is rad, bonnet, offside top rocker, windscreen, off side rear rim, two headlights, one indicator and the metal work that hold the bonnet on. I might also need a new rack.

Im ok and so was my friend who was travelling with me.
Coming over the downs at South Harting. I had just turned onto the B2141 and was going up the wiggly bit at the beginning, as I came round a sweeping left the rear just kept coming round. We mounted the mud verge and were lifted at such an angle that my GT fuel tank scrapped along the road and sprung a leak.

The car basically ran its nose through the bushes and trees for about 4meters traveling perpendicular to the road. I thought we were going to roll as I was expecting the car to dig in the verge and go over.

It was a case of the road conditions changing as the trees over the road made it damper for longer. There was no tyre squeal it just started to come round and I was a passenger.

My only Problem is that Steve cant do the Chevette style top rockers anymore.
I'll have a good look at it during the weekend.

Know someone who's good with fibreglass?
I got this over both wheels and lights and a crack in the rear of the bonnet.

sorry to hear and see that........glad you and yoru passenger are ok though. sorry can't recommend anyone bodywork wise down your way......
do know a guy up here near brands who does shedloads of work on kits: caterhams, cobs etc etc and of course some of those need 'glassing. If that's an option i can dig out the number - he did my car and a few others on here.....

There's a guy in Liphook (just south of Hindhead called Nev Powell - very good at all things kit car. He used to make the chassis for the Stylus, & hosts the JPSC meets in Liphook, so he knows all about Furys. He may well be able to make another rocker as well as the GRP repair. I've no contact details here at work, but PM me if you're interested & I'll dig out his No.

Sounds like a pretty horrific prang. Glad the Fury looked after you & your passenger, the crashworthiness was one of the reasons I chose one.

Fury 1630.

I have met Nev once when I went to the Liphook meet back in April. I think I was the only one there in a kit as it was about 4deg. I never thought about him but hes an option. What im thinking is possiblely making up a jig myself from the rocker thats on the other side and not twisted . I can then get a friend to weld it all up.

It wasnt horrific just more unexpected. More driver error than anything else. My error was that the grip levels were lower than what I thought them to be. Expensive way to learn though.

Sorry to hear you have had a prang bean there done that as said how much is a new bonnet in a lighter material you could go Kevlar as Lee has done.
What tyres are you running perhaps something with a bit more grip will help stop it happening again.

Im running yoko A021s front and rear 185 on the front 205's on the rear, and yes that is a Fury with doors (ie not the wide arc rears of the spider) the only slight problem was that the original builder didn't put the rear tub on quite central. So it looks a bit stupid.

In all honesty it was me and the road conditions the sap and the slight grease from the over hanging trees caught me out.
