Afternoon all
My name is Tom, and I am clearing the garage out in order to (hopefully!) build a Raw Striker, powered by an R1 or ZX12R engine.
I am still very much at the investigation/pricing stage, and any advice would be much appreciated - I know I will have many questions in the future!

Hi! It is I....
I have a Sylva ( now Raw ) Phoenix which is basically a Striker with a pretty dress on, and it is powered by a 2003 R1. Great fun car and has proved fantastically reliable over the last 8 years considering all the abuse thrown at. Every time the key goes in it must think it's been stolen! I am in Oxted, car is nearly running again if you want to come and have a close look at it. Jim also has an R1 Fury in Horsham, both of us won't mind you climbing over them or giving you a passenger ride if they are running. Good choice of kit.

Hi Tom, welcome to the Nutters Club, I am sure that (Kev Super Sex) AKA Furyous kev will be along shortly also.
There seems to be more interest in Bec than ever before.
Hope to see you soon.

Hi Tom,
That's the way to go, BEC. I have a Westfield with a Hayabusa engine. Made several improvements to it since owning it. Mr Greenwood and Furyblade Lee have both been in it. I am currently helping a guy build his car and he lives in Great Missenden. Also another owner lives near Reading in Pangbourne. If you need any advice, feel free to ask. I will probably tell you that the best engine to have will be a Suzuki though LOL. Good luck with the build or purchase.

Hi Tom and welcome. Coming from the dark side (BEC) there are a few who may try to persuade you CEC is better before you buy.
Question, do you have a burning desire to build rather then buy? Reason I ask is it is more cost effective (normally) to buy a registered car and spend your money upgrading ot to your taste.
If you have a desire to build then good luck, its what I did and many others but it does take longer and cost more then you think it will.
Once again welcome
.............Neil

Thanks for the welcome!
Doing the build is half the attraction for me - although I may not be saying that when it all goes wrong, and I have no skin on my knuckles!
I would love a Suzuki engine, but 'busas seem expensive, as does the GSXR1000. The ZX12R seems to have almost as many upgrades as the 'busa engines (turbo etc) if I decide I want even more umph, and lots of people seem have used R1 engines when researching on the web. I will speak to Raw to see what they have worked with, but will also make the final decision when I source the donor bike - maybe there is a crash damaged Hayabusa out there just for me
I want to buy the bike, strip it of all the bits I want (engine, rad, loom etc) and eBay all the other bits (fairing, frame, wheels) Hopefully this will be the cheapest way of getting my parts, plus I will be able to verify that the engine is good.
