Nnnnnooooo What kind of advice is that  You can do better then a RH

See, I thought that when I saw it - annoyingly CKC popped through the letter box just as we were on the way out to the local Bubble Car Museum this morning (yes, you read that right...) so I've only just go the chance to read it.

Obviously, depends where the care is/what condition it's in, but Loz has a budget, and clearly an appetite to do a bit of work (so "change" to start on upgrades is an added bonus), and is apparently a sensible lad as he'd popped up here to solicit advice ( :o :o    ). If the car's sound, it could be a good opportunity to test out kit car ownership for a very reasonable cost - and judge what upgrades (either on said car, or by virtue of switching to another model) are desirable.

Loz, this is my one sensible post for the year - not comments you lot!

Oh Linda you had to bring it back to sensible....... and its the weekend too  ;)

My view on this is based on the following, which is purely my logic (so no basis or foundation on anything scientific:

If I had my time again I would buy the cheapest, roughest, registered version of the car I want (I know Loz doesn't know what that is yet) and spend the money on the things I wanted / needed to end up with the car I really want.

That's me anyway.

Nash, you'd never be able to put up with the whistling banshee caused by all the open redundant rivet holes in the chassis tubes; or do you know a way of marking the replaced/new panels from the inside of the tube ??

Loz, a good way of finding out what to spend your money on is tho trawl throungh some of the posts on this forum about people who gripe about breakages etc. not engines, that's a separate issue, but broken chassis and engine mounts etc. That will give you a good idea about where you want to spend your time and money in the future, either welding and repairing or buying shiney go faster parts. Guess it depends what you're in to. :D

To be honest I want to pick up something thats mechanically sound to start with. Im not too worried about the cosmetics.

Seats, clocks, paintwork, wheels etc can all be sorted fairly easily. nothing my minimal knowledge of bodging cant sort.

Ive been trawling the site and picking up good bits of info along the way so just need to shift this damn bike and il be out shopping like my mrs for a new pair of ankle breakers.

A few of the members local to me in Southampton have been kind enough to message and offer help if I need it which is great.

Oh and on the "Sensible lad" comment, I like to think of it as being polite until I meet people in person. It generally goes down hill pretty fast from there onwards....hahaha
