Another Fury, hoorah!

Mine was crossflowed for SVA, then Zetec'd, to be honest I loved it with the crossflow & probably would never have changed it but I got made redundant & was handed a fat cheque ........

NCD on here is coming to the end of the same swap at the moment, so plenty of help available, the Zetec swap was covered on my blog (link below) way back at the beginning. The car's a lot quicker with the Zetec, but had more "character" with the crossflow.

One thing to be said for the Zetec over the Duratec - the exhaust is on the same side as a Crossflow, on my car the battery, screen wash tank, main wiring loom & some other stuff are in the off-side pod, so I really didn't want to move all that to run an exhaust through it.

Which bonnet have you got? the on the "classic" the light pads are too low, I still have the podded lights I used to raise them for the test if it helps.

Oh - we need some photos - did anyone mention that?

Hello and welcome.

I wouldn't worry about a Q-plate. You can't put a personalised reg on it, but it never gets any older! I missed out on a 12 plate by one part. With hindsight I should have put a new Zetec in and got the new plate, as the cost would have been very similar anyway.

At least if you do the IVA with a Cross Flow you will get by with the more relaxed emissions threshold. If you did it with a Zetec you'd need a pre-Aug 1995 engine which are now becoming very hard to get hold of in a decent working state. At least one, that you'd want to keep in the car after IVA. Unless someone is taking a tidy one out of an existing kit or cherished old Mondeo.

Hi and thanks for the warm welcome and all the advice I will get some photos up shortly
And keep u all updated on the build, the fury is currently at work which has made it a bit awkward
To work on as there has to be 2 people present in the workshop and most the guys don't want to stay on after a days work.but now my boss needs the space back due to the size of super yacht coming in so I'm in the middle of building a garage at the moment and the fury should be home in the next week and then I can really get my teeth into the build I will keep u all posted on the build

Yeh I have the classic bonnet and I did read something about the indicators being too low for the Iva ?
I love the x-flow engines as I'm a ford man at heart with many sporting escorts under my belt, and I did look at dropping a 2.1 pinto in there which I've had lying around for a while but as you said about the duratec its all the wrong way round and if I were to go to all that trouble swapping it around It then surely a cossie lump would be the way to go?. But first things first I need to get it on the road and then look at the upgrades. Your fury looks sweet I would love to take a look at it one day if possible ?

No problem, I'm only up the road in Guildford, or let us know when your Fury's home & I'll maybe bring it down.

Of course, there's a few Fury owners on here, so either start a thread in general gassing - car related, or PM me, or ask right here.

A furry convoy - must look that up in the Urban Dictionary.

Edit: Ooops. It actually does exist.
