I was looking at all 16 valve heads including the BMW k100 stuff, but want to keep the Austin unit being a BL/Rover fan. I was looking at putting a Rover 18K4 unit in it to give it more power but that is cheating! I throught keeping the Austin A+ was more in keeping with the car and would be a good place to start to learn how to machine stuff!.

To be honest mate I totally agree with you. You should tune within the limits of what you've got and enjoy it and learn as you go. 16V trick bits are all good and well but you're taking the A-series beyond what it's designed for so you're entering a whole new realm. I reckon there's a lot of of fun to be had with what you've got so well done for sticking with the A-series!
