Got a pass for tomorrow so I’m popping up in the Tin top tomorrow.
Is it worth my while?

Re: Stoneleigh 2018 May 6th and 7th
Great day, good run both ways, great company.
Thanks mike for organising and glad you made it
Started 07:00 at Clacketts waiting for Mike and Colin to turn up.
Then around M25 to catch up with Matt and Tony, and then caught up with Tony C.
my passenger door decided it didn’t want to stay on its hinges, and fly off but my quick reaction managed to catch it.
Carried around to m40 and up to Banbury to the Cafe where we welcomed by a full cafe of SKCC and bikers.
Then on to Stoneleigh, more of A and B roads and away from the motorways, so a bit more fun and a few more rival Kit clubs cutting in.
But final arrived to be greeted by Rich.
Great day, good selection of cars didn’t think it was as busy as last year, but still worth going.
Good run home with Matt and Tony just a little overheating issue and not from me but was fine

You seemed to spend a lot of time on the Ultima stand for someone who's already got one - can't think why......

Nice report and great pics Kev, my old vstorm among them. Early start after not a lot of sleep for some reason.. must have been the anticipation and excitement of leaving Kent.
Hooked up with Kev and Colin, banter started early with the merits or not of the radios. Decided they were good for breakdowns and emergency’s especially if your handbrake fails.. throw then under the wheels, job done.
Hooked up with Matt after deciphering radio noise and pot luck.
then Tony on the M40 “we’re behind you”
“you talking to me?” Was the response lol
Radios binned then Reg’s cafe, as Kev said, walked into a room full of the skcc, great and welcome surprise. Cafe was busy considering it had just opened, had the gut buster, for a tenner it was the nuts. Before anyone asks.. it didn’t..
Onwards to the show, was in economy mode until a grey ultima decided to hold me up.. not
that thing on tick over totally monsters my car.
Great to see Rich on the pitch, a poem there I’m sure. Had a bit of a wander and chilled out by the cars for a while. Caught up with the Luego owners club for a short while then engaged exit strategy and back down the M40 via leamington Spa.
The ultima came back to amuse me on the motorway for a short while until Paul got bored and disappeared off into the horizon, I’d have followed, but you know how it is...
Weather brilliant, great group of peeps and banter as usual, til next time..

Re: Stoneleigh 2018 May 6th and 7th
I'm back home, very tired but I had a brilliant day
I left Eastbourne at 4.55am, as I couldn't face M23, M25 and M40. I came up with this route:
And it worked very well, the satnav was pessimistic, I did the route about 45 minutes quicker this morning and 30 minutes quicker on the way back, so I could have had another half an hour in bed. The roads were mostly clear, in the morning and not bad this afternoon. On the way home, I had a clear run down the Fosse way, I think I spotted all the cameras
. Then the police followed me for about 10 miles, eventually I bored them into submission. And finally I had a great run down the Basingstoke to Alton road, with a bike behind, I'd tried waving him past, but he didn't want to, so we made good progress for several miles until I couldn't pass a car and he waved as he went past.
Managed to stop by a pond for a photo:
Breakfast was great, and Reg had opened early so I'd had mine by the time everyone else came. Good chat over breakfast, was followed by a nice cross country convoy run. I think we created a bit fo a stir when we all left breakfast together
Here are some photos of the show:
SKCC area was well supported:
Beach Buggies as far as the eye could see
My favourite show car, a very nice 250 GT SWB replica with custom space frame chassis and BMW running gear:
Complete Kitcar were busy and had a good stand with their cars. A good deal on subscriptions too
Hawk Daytona stood out too.
Nice Rochdale Olympic was parked next to a rather gaudy Fairthorpe Electron Minor
Huge one make club stands were full this year, it's amazing what a bit of sunshine brings out.

Nice one Duncan. The shot of your car is superb, a calendar shot for sure.

Thanks Mike, sorry I forgot to say thanks for organising. You made a great effort getting your car ready for today, and I really liked the purple rear arches. I would never have thought to try that combination

Good one Richard, but sorry to hear you overheated. Did you manage to fix it?

Pulled into services to make sure everything was okay and let it cool fir half hour, gave Linda and David chance to catch me up as I sat at max 60 mph after that and followed them on the A Rds then limped to kings Lynn.
Hopefully only weather related.
Rich.
