Wanted: MK Indy

Postby andy1303 » Tue Jun 19, 2012 9:08 pm

Most engines considered but if car-engined must have type 9 box.

Simpler the better - will be used for sprinting. Prefer fibreglass seats to allow for my height.

Must be SVA'd/MOT'd.

Absolute max budget £5k but would prefer to spend less to allow for modifications to my needs.

Car preferably located in SE but will consider a bit further for the right car.

Thanks

Andy

Just out of interest if for sprinting why a type 9, type e 4 speed has a much better change and is lighter, plus you are unlikely to get to max revs on the sprint in 4th?

its a bit up north but its £550 under your budget if you use the buy it now, that would cover the train and petrol driving it back. non Q plate 12 months mot

Looks very nice, very tasefully done.

BUT "selling for a mate" always worries me a bit, it's shown in a garage with other "projects" going on, he says "I will put an MoT on it when sold" if he's a trader, is he just going to write out the paperwork, or do an actual MoT on it?

I'm not saying it's dodgy - just that you need to be aware of what you're buying. You'd need to check the V5 carefully to make sure it's properly registered - if not an MoT will pick it up, which may be why he's offering to do the MoT?

Well, here's what the DVLA have to say about it, or more accurately, about the license plate that's on it:

It's not necessarily based on performance, more the fact it's so common and you can get bellhousings to fit anything. It was also to try and avoid a car based around a later sierra twincam with the MT75 (I think) gearbox which is bigger and needs a larger tunnel. I need the legroom.

Would it be rude to admit I just don't get the right vibe from it? I'm also not big on ads where it just seems the seller can't be bothered to put any detail so you can't tell what you might be getting.

i know what your saying as i have a friend who changes his cars quicker than the weather. when he advertises them he's well what can i say very lacking in description and decent pictures and then wonders why he doesn't get much interest.

but in saying that at least the guy hasn't hyped it up eg only goes out on dry sunday afternoons in the summer then washed and waxed serviced every ?000 miles etc no expence spared never needs for anything only selling due to young family etc etc

Thanks....

I'm going to see this tomorrow....

I figure if I'm going to blow my specification (noted on another thread as 1.7 max) I might as well blow the car too.....
