Hi, just joined the club and hoping to do some runs, meets and track days with fellow members.

I have a road legal but extremely noisy 1970 Ginetta G15 with a 998cc racing Imp engine built to hill climb/sprint spec – approx. 200bhp/tonne. :D

I’m also building a 1963 Austin Healey Sprite (mk2), which will have a 1.8 Turbo Rover K series engine and 5 speed Type 9 gearbox when finished – approx. 260 bhp/tonne. A bit of a struggling project due to time, Space and money

Cheers, Karl

PS My son is also interested in cars i.e. currently restoring a Mk 1 Golf Gti.

Welcome, Carl! That's a bit different from the norm (i.e. not Sevenesque), but variety is good. We're all very noisy in this club. And so are the cars... :D

Hi Carl and welcome. Nice looking car. Do you have any photos of the other one? Get your name down for a run out there's usually plenty going on.

Once again welcome.

Good greif! What's that thing over the seats? I believe it may be one of those new-fangled things - a roof?

You may be the first in the club with one of those. :D

Welcome, be good to see a Ginetta out with us.

Some pics of my Mk 2 Healey Sprite (work in progress). So far I've completed:

Rear suspension - Narrowed RX7 axle (vented discs), coil over shocks, anti-tramp bars, panard rod, adapted prop shaft (RX axle to type 9 gearbox).
Engine & gearbox - In car, turbo had to be mounted high i.e. manifold turned upside down for space, but it still fouls the front suspension geometry. Engine will be chipped for approx. 200 bhp with similar torque level.
Front suspension - Work in progress. First attempt didn't work so having a re-think, I'm going to have to fabricate upper & lower wishbones for coil overs (possibly similar to Triumph GT6)
Cooling - work in progress. I was going to use Renault 5 turbo rad and intercooler (see photo), but may have a bespoke set up made.
Body - Original shell has been blasted and painted (powder coat) and is in great shape rust wise, apart from some minor dents (its been stored and moved around a lot). I'll got a GRP front end (bonnet & wings) for lightness. Car should be about 700 kg.
Interior - Stock dash, MX5 seats, roll bar (but may go for a full cage).

There are a few 1.8 K series conversions, but only one other turbo (New Zealand) that I know of. Good slightly tuned non turbo conversions with about the same bhp do 0-60 in about 4.5 seconds, so I'm hoping mine may be a bit quicker (if I can get the tyres to stick) due to having 25% extra torque that the turbo brings!

Thanks for the comments. Cheers, Karl

PS I purchased my engine from a guy who had the same engine/turbo set up in a sevenesque, but with only the standard 160 bhp (I'm going to re-chip mine to 200 bhp).
