Phoenix from the ashes

Postby jeffw » Fri Apr 14, 2017 2:48 pm

Riding to the rescue again, Dick & Jay where able to get the bodywork which went up in flames sorted out in a week. Bonnet and nearside pod all repaired and painted, offside pod and tub is next.

Jay kindly drove the car to and from the paint shop used and is a little wide eyed after the experience

Starting to look like I wanted it all along (one colour as a start!)

Yeap, going to have to paint it all now. To be honest the front looks so good now it would be a crying shame not to paint the rest of it.

There is a Goodwood sprint today and next Saturday and I'm not at either. The next one I'll be at is in late September I think.

That is looking very dapper :D

Can I say it has a touch of a Morgan look   Are you considering the dark side and adding a bit of wood?

Strangely no Paul, burnt wood as carbon but no real wood.

Would just like to add a bit. I am a tad anoyed Jeff never set the seating position up for me as i had a few issues with driving it like my knees hitting the dash and the paddle shif hitting my thighs.
What i can tell you is "jesus christ"
The route i took to and throw the paint shop is normally such a harsh ride even in the hilux but in Jeffs car it was like driving on a smooth track. The suspension on the car is amazing. I thought it was going to be hard but no its like driving a ford focus but then when you swing into a bend its solid. As for the engine and gearbox god its addictive. A little blip on the throttle from say 20mph i found my self firing up the box and the speedo may aswell just work in 20,s as it raises that quick then down shift and do it all again. The way it accelarates is unreal. With the 10 inch wets that were on the car it just wanted to spin and thats only at about 25% throttle. To wrap it up awsome just wish i could of got on the peddles properly to give it full beans.

Rob if yours is half as quick, good luck
