squeaking damper

Postby kenton » Sun Jun 18, 2017 3:00 pm

On this mornings run I had an annoying squeak from the rear end. With the wheel off and the hub resting on a wooden block Felicity jumped up and down on the cage while I tried to find its source. It turns out its the damper that squeaks but only if its adjusted more than 6 clicks in from the softest setting.
Why would that make a difference?
Thanks in advance
k

Spray the bushs with silicon dont think its the shock more like the change in settings is loading the bushes up more. If it dont go spray the others to. Put money on the shocks ok

ah, should have said
rose jointed ends, well lubed with spray grease. def not the wishbones as well lubed too and did not squeak with damper removed when moved up and down. only squeaks when above 6 clicks.

My westie had this from the first day I got it.
Sprayed it many times which worked each time ...for a while.
Steve eventually took it off the car and it was the valve ....
New rear pair of protec. Units bought from procomp who valve and balance them in pairs
Made a huge difference,
So much so that I soon got a front pair as well....

I used to use washing up liquid sprayed everywere on previous cars, but since changing over to poly bushes never had a squeak since
Thats was probably spelt wrong, or had some grammer, that the "grammer police have to have a moan at

Thanks Dick, ill try swapping them to prove its the damper.
Graham, interesting, I'm sure its related to the adjuster position.
