‘Evening All’…..a Western Amble….

Evening blat report:
David T, Nick and Graham assembled at Newlands Corner at the allotted time but as I had struggled to get away from home on schedule I was running late. I stopped, firstly seeing a text from Tony to say he had electrical problems and had the dash out! I suggested to the others that they head off with a view to meeting me a couple of waypoints into the route. Needless to say, where they stopped was not where I though they were stopping  but before long we were blatting onwards in convoy.

Some new roads, some old ones, no piles of loose chippings this time, but some road-straddling puddles to contend with :)
Also an annoying number of 40 limit signs on the West Sussex sections. I guess the council just bought 40 signs to get a bulk discount…

Despite Tyre being perfectly clear about the route, TomTom had other ideas and tried to make us turn round and go down a private road that wasn’t even a through route. As Phil would say, “Fookin SatNav!”. Somehow the ensuing chaos caused David and Nick to arrive at the pub (The Lamb at Lambs Green just west of Gatwick) via a different route to Graham and me. Tony had made a valiant effort to expel the electrical gremlin and arrived a few minutes later having taken a direct route from home. After beer and chips (some cheesy) sitting outside under ever darkening skies, we headed off for blat part deux.

With just a few spots of rain but now pretty much dark we returned to Newlands via, according to Graham, a “special rally stage” up through Ewhurst and Peaslake with some chassis crunching bumps along the way.

Another fun West Side outing. Thanks guys!
