Stand in Captains Report..

Well it was an early start for me this morning, ie. Check why the battery warning light and the oil pressure light were’ not working, with those both sorted I left the marina at 6.00am to get to the Boxhill hotel for 6.30. within a couple of minutes I could here the pinto powered tiger roaring up.

We left the hotel bang on 6.30 to get to BB, we went the easy A24 route for which a few miles of that road are great. At buck barn we fueled up ready for the off.

The banter was flowing from the start, with comments coming from all parties, Mr Big Cheese decided to passenger with the captain Nick, much to my annoyance as we kept bottoming out
The roads were truly fab, twisting roads throughout the route.

MID WAY STOP…. Great I thought, a perfect place to stop. Schoolboy error number 1, don’t leave your keys in the car. Schoolboy error number 2, don’t sit in James car, because you never know who gets in your one and proceeds to drive off, although Mr Big Cheese was hampered with road clearance James wanted me as a passenger for a couple of miles but i have been there before haven’t I Trevor, well I got back in my tiger as passenger because Big Cheese wanted to try a proper car. I was feeling rather sheepish after a couple of miles (see what I did there Linda) then big cheese handed the raines back to me. We were the last to brekkie but the first to get served Banter made up the poor grub.

Sorry Phil and Ruby for your problem, at least no harm was done.

Thanks to Mark for the route. Guys, without your support to this club mornings like this wouldn’t happen so raise your tea cups and praise the SKCC.

short report as i wasn’t the Captain today

James arrived at mine at silly o’clock and proceeded to demonstrate about 75% of the Caterhams abilities around corners, perhaps the only guy I know that likes to accelerate off a m/way at times? The meet was the usual mix of banter and hellos before setting off – I’d decided to foist myself onto Nick as a passenger to see if his claims about 4k revs were accurate….sadly the rev counter is hidden from passenger sight, but I do believe we peaked at 4.5k revs on the way to the ciggie break. I won’t wax lyrical about the roads we drove, enough has been said – for newbies, think open B roads with some decent corners and no boot fair, horse boxes or caravans and you’re part way there!
At the ciggie break I added to the total that Graham recorded
‘score:-
1 x dead rabbit
1 x very scared rabbit(near miss)
1 x very scared fox
1 scared Nick
yep i kindly offered ( I think I did ask didn’t I?) to pilot the mean machine for a few miles, actually thinking back it was a tricky manoeuvre as Nick had sat in James passenger seat for a trial fit, James was all for starting the beast up and kidnapping him, but decided to play fair – I on the other hand had installed myself into Nick Tiger and was ready to crack on. My passenger seemed a little less talkative for those few miles??????????
We swapped back after a few miles and Nick kindly chauffeured me to brekkie where to our great disappointment there was no ‘blondie’ and definitely no ‘cream’, just a few guys who looked like they could do quantum physics but weren’t too hot around a brekkie! Sadly my fav venue is off limits now and will receive a Greenwood letter this week telling them why!

My thanks to my pilots this morning and to Richard and James for some continued assistance with the Rickman and various mowers!
