Southways Run and Meet

For those that don’t know Tiger sold the rights and moulds for the Cat and Supercat to a South Coast Company called Southways. The owners of Southways have been involved with kits for some while, turning a passion for building their own into a business. We decided to help support their Open Morning, and a good job too – because unfortunately without us it would have been very quiet down there! Let’s hope they can make a good go of the business as they are really decent chaps.

There’s nothing better than hatching a complicated plan for a route and run and seeing it come together. Southways are based in Fareham, so we came up with a 3 phase plan: Run to Buck Barn for a meet of the Northern/Southern Crews and then head across to Petersfield to pick up a further contingent from the Guildford area. Amazingly it worked out well and eventually we all grouped together at Fleet.

I have to say that the conditions were less than perfect with a nice damp sheen to the roads giving them that horrible glossiness that can sap confidence in a light rear wheel drive car. Nonetheless we ‘cracked on’ and skirted any new downpours and in the process found roads that really must be revisited……..why are all the decent roads so far away?

It wasn’t the weather for shots on the move so here’s a sample from the actual main ‘meet’.

As well as building Supercats the guys there are heavily into their Ultimas……seems a bit soft though doesn’t it – I mean fancy having a roof! Although the pics don’t show it we had 18 cars down there – a really good turn out.
