Captains Report:

The Sun God worked his magic………

It was with a high degree of reluctance that I got out of bed this morning, soooo glad that I did!

The run to the meet was fine, sure the roads were damp and it was “interesting” driving in the half light – a pet hate of mine when I sometimes find I get disoriented as the light/dark plays tricks. Half the crew were at the rendez vous point, and after I rocked up Tony C and Bill arrived in short order.

With a customary ciggie, a few words of banter we set off. For once I didn’t have the route – ironic as I’d made the ITN for the morning, so I set off on the heels of Tony B. Well what a corking run. We hit some old fav roads and found some new bits of tarmac that will definitely feature again, Tony set a good steady pace – erring on the safe side as the roads varied from dry to damp to erm wet. In fact once we hit our fav stretch of the Punnets Town Road we could have done with wet tyres, goodness there was some standing water along there – and a few rivers running across it, that plus heading into the sun made it an interesting experience. We turned off, using a new road that I’d found – after that road I suspect that all cars are now the colour of mine, grey/brown!

Traffic was light and we made the brekkie stop early for a change. What a great Cafe – Wessons, a bikers Cafe at Horam. the brekkie options looked spot on and I dabbled with the idea of the “Big Bad Boy” brekkie but for once sense took over and I settled for the ordinarily named “Brekkie” …….Kenton and Felicity turned up just after we’d finished eating and there was a sharp intake of breath as his feast was brought out by two waitresses – yep he’d gone for that Big Bad Boy option. Let’s put this into context – I know he has twice as many cylinders as the rest of us, but after that I can see why: 2 egg, 2 saus, 2 bacon, burger, chips, mush, toms, bread – “king ell” Kenton, where did you put that lot?

As ever the conversation over brekkie added to the whole excursion. Let’s see, sun, cracking roads, food and banter I make that a win, win, win, win…….

Bill132hotrod’s Report

Well the start to today’s run was interesting to say the least. Dark, cold, and dry, wet, patchy, floods, rabbits, deer (yes 2 bambies) jumped out in front of us to the amazement of the missis, I think I can say hi Julie bet you are awake now. Bless her she was so reluctant to get out of that nice warm bed at 06:00hrs this morning, but it was worth it to her even if it was only the wild life.

Then there were fords across the road where they were least expected.

And rabbits running around playing chicken with the front wheels, I must say that the half-light at that time of the day certainly plays havoc with tired eyes, and you certainly need to have your wits about you.

But hey, we arrived on time at the meeting point, say our good mornings and off we go, loved the run, can say it was very interesting, fag break was good for me even if I don’t smoke, it was good to add a little more water to the rain soaked fields.

Finally made it to the cafe, where Mark impressed us all with showing his skill in entering a car that is fitted with a full roll cage, very amusing.

Nice breakfast to stop those early worms from biting, nice chat with the lads.

Sun was up and becoming warmer by the minute, but still had a bite in the air at 70mph on the way home up the A21.
